SPOKANE, Wash. - All the streets downtown are open again, and the 71st annual Lilac Festival Armed Forces Torch Light Parade is in the books. Tens of thousands of people filled the streets of downtown Spokane to salute the brave and take part in city pride Saturday night.

Taking home first place was Rosalia with the queen's award, Davenport with the princess award, Connell-North Franklin with the president's award and Sunnyside with the grand marshal award.

The parade, manned entirely by volunteers, wound through downtown Spokane Saturday night to the delight of onlookers young and old.

The theme of this year's parade was "I Love a Parade".  In honor of the Washington Air National Guard celebrating its 85th anniversary since its founding at Felts Field in 1924, the grand marshal was Major General Timothy J. Lowenberg, the Adjutant General for the State of Washington.  The honorary Grand Marshal was Rear Admiral James A. Symonds, Commander Navy Region Northwest.
