Police: man lies about shooting self

Posted:

COLFAX, Wash. - A 22-year-old man may be facing perjury charges after lying to police about shooting himself in the foot.

Chase Catelli, of Reardan, initially sought medical attention in Davenport for a gunshot wound to the foot. Catelli told police that he had been fishing at Rock Lake with his girlfriend when he met up with three men shooting guns in the area. Catelli said one of the men was lowering a gun when it accidentally went off and hit him in the foot.

After investigating the incident which included witness interviews, police came to believe that Catelli actually accidentally shot himself in the foot and believed he was not legally allowed to possess a gun.
