
The woman has been positively identified as Cynthia L Brodersen, 45-years-old from Grover Beach,CA. Brodersen's next of kin has been notified. Police say the Union Pacific train was traveling northeast at the Prairie Ave crossing and Brodersen was lying on the tracks when she was hit by the train.
The intersection of W. Prairie Ave. and N. Idaho road in Post Falls will be blocked for several hours while police investigate the fatal collision.
This is the second report of someone being hit by a train in north Idaho today. Around 5 a.m. the Rathdrum Police Department was dispatched to the report of a body laying next to the railroad tracks near the Mill St. crossing. The call came from railroad personnel of a passing train.
When officers arrived they found 28-year-old Henderson Wallen of Rathdrum lying on the ground with severe injuries to his back and head. Wallen told officers at the scene that a train struck him. Wallen was transported to the Kootenai Medical Center for his injuries.
Police say alcohol may have been a factor that incident.
