Apparently the Houston Texans had just one quarterback too many.  Unfortunately, that means former Washington State QB Alex Brink is a player without a position.

The Texans released Brink last week, according to information posted on the team's website and in local media reports.  The move came 12 days after Houston signed former Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman to a contract.  The Texans already list Matt Schaub (Virginia, 6th year) and Dan Orlovsky (Connecticut, 5th year) on their roster.

Brink reportedly has some practice squad eligibility remaining, so the Texans could bring him back after training camp.

The former Washington State signal caller was the 223rd pick in the 2008 NFL draft.  The Texans made room for Brink by cutting veteran QB Quinn Gray and had coaches believing he could be a legitimate NFL player.

Brink started his last 40 games at Washington State dating back to his freshman season.  He became WSU's all-time leader in career net yards (10,628), passing Ryan Leaf, Jack Thompson and Jason Gesser.  He also became the school's all-time leader in career plays (1.652).
