CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a Canyon County jail inmate found hanging by his neck in a jail shower room Wednesday.
James Cuccia was found around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Sheriff Chris Smith says deputies performed CPR and paramedics transported Cuccia, who was unresponsive, to West Valley Medical Center, where he died Thursday morning.
Cuccia was booked into the jail Wednesday for a probation violation on a felony eluding conviction. He was brought to Canyon County from Gem County, where he had been held since Sunday.
Smith says detectives from the Ada County Sheriff's Office will supervise an investigation into Cuccia's death.
