SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - Fire crews from Fire District 9 contained a two alarm wildfire at E. Lincoln Rd. and E. Rocky top Lane east of Spokane Valley and north of Green Acres Saturday. The fire was first reported around 1:57 p.m. and crews were able to get the fire contained and start mop up procedures shortly after 3 o'clock.
Crews on scene initially reported the fire was about two to three acres and moving fast. After it was knocked down crews determined the fire actually burned about an acre.
Fire officials say the fire threatened several homes in the area, but they were able to get it contained before any structures could be damaged.
The hot weather and dry conditions have elevated the fire danger lately and there are several burn bans in place around the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
