JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - A barn that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and that was the site of a brawl scene in Clint Eastwood movie is being dismantled, and Jackson city officials say it's because of a permit error.
The barn was built in the 1920s and was the location of the denouement of the 1980 film Any Which Way You Can, in which Eastwood fights a character played by William Smith in a bare-knuckle brawl.
It's included on several historic registries, but it wasn't included on the list used by city staffers when considering whether to approve demolition permits.
Planning Director Tyler Sinclair says that once the error was noticed, he asked the property owner to halt the demolition process to give officials time to assess the situation.
Brent Tometich, the contractor hired to demolish the barn, says he plans to try to rebuild it on another property.
