Stevens County Deputies arrest husband in homicide investigation

MARCUS, Wash. - A Sergeant with the Stevens County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to KHQ that a Marcus resident has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of his wife. 

Authorities say the Stevens County 911 Dispatch Center received a call on Saturday just before 5 p.m. from 68-year-old Craig Raymond Cosby, who told dispatchers he had killed his wife and he was calling to turn himself in.

When deputies arrived at Cosby's home, in the 1200 block of Overlook Blvd.,they made contact with Cosby in his front yard.  Cosby was taken into custody at the scene without incident. Deputies found Cosby's wife, 53-year-old Susan May Cosby dead inside the house, the apparent victim of multiple gunshot wounds. 

Cosby was transported to the Stevens County Jail where he was booked on a charge of murder in the first degree.  Cosby is currently being held on $250,000 bail and is expected to make his first appearance in a Stevens County courtroom on Monday October 5th.

The Stevens County Coroner's Office has requested and autopsy. which is expected early next week. The investigation is ongoing by Stevens County Sheriff's Detectives.

Neighbors told KHQ the Cosbys have lived in their home in Marcus for well over a decade.

Marcus is Located about four miles north of Kettle Falls along Hwy. 25 in Northern Stevens County along the Columbia River.
