SPOKANE, Wash. - Four of the Dachshunds rescued from an early morning garage fire Monday will be ready for adoption from the Humane Society next week.
A total of six dogs were taken to the Humane Society following a garage fire at Margo Mossburg's home, which also houses Dachshund Rescue Northwest. Seven dogs were lost in the fire which did spread to Mossburg's home, though Mossburg was able to save 16 others, suffering smoke inhalation in the process.
The other 10 dogs rescued from her home already have foster homes.
Mossburg and her family will be staying in a hotel for the next few days and then will be staying with friends until her home can be rebuilt as it is said to be a total loss.
The outpouring of offers for foster homes and support since the fire has been overwhelming, but Mossburg wants to get her rescue up and running again quickly.
For nearly 20 years, Dachshund Rescue Northwest has adopted out more than 400 dogs.
