Missing Parma man found dead near state highway

Associated Press - October 19, 2009 8:14 PM ET

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Authorities say a 97-year-old Parma man reported missing earlier this month has been found dead in his pickup truck in Boise County.

Parma police say Willie Evans and his truck were found Sunday by a highway cleanup crew working on State Highway 21.

Investigators say it appears the truck veered off the highway as it was headed south from Lowman. They say it traveled down an embankment and stopped on some large rocks and trees.

Evans was reported missing from the Parma area on Oct. 6, touching off a search by police and pilots who searched an area further west near Payette.

Boise County Coroner Pam Garlock says the cause of death is pending. She says it appears Evans died about two weeks ago and there is nothing to indicate foul play.
