YAKIMA, Wash. - The Yakima County Sheriff's Office is searching for three suspects after a large number of brass vases were stolen from a cemetery.
Deputies say the suspects entered West Hills Memorial Park Cemetery on November 5 and took 217 brass vases from headstone markers, amounting to a loss of approximately $106,500. Police believe the suspects tried to destroy the vases and sell them as scrap metal. Employees at Chicago Junk in Yakima say three people tried to turn in what were likely the destroyed vases.
