SPOKANE, Wash. - A soldier from Post Falls, Idaho who was among those wounded in a mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, has returned home.
George Stratton III arrived at the Spokane International airport accompanied by his parents Sunday afternoon.
Stratton was shot in the shoulder during the November attack.
"I just heard about 10 to 15 shots go off in my ear and I was dazed and confused," said Stratton.
His father, George Stratton, said he received a phone call from his 18-year-old son immediately after the shootings.
"He said 'Dad I'm in the back of an ambulance, I've been shot in the shoulder, but I'm going to be okay, don't worry.' It kind of freaked us out," said George.
The younger Stratton was working at the Fort Hood readiness center and his said he was about six feet away from the shooter when he was hit.
He had completed his training and was gearing up for deployment to Afghanistan in January.
Stratton has returned to Post Falls to recover from his injuries at his parents' home.
