KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho - Saturday at 11:54 a.m.Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a fatally injured woodcutter in the forest near Fourth of July Pass.
Upon arrival they found 34-year-old Sonny Von Scherrer, of Kingston, Idaho, deceased from trauma caused by a falling tree.
Friends with Mr. Scherrer told deputies that they were cutting trees, approximately 3 miles from I-90 off of Forest Service Road 614, when a tree Mr. Scherrer was felling broke and struck him.
