Point guard Chene Cooper led all Eagles in scoring with 17 points in just 19 minutes.
Both teams struggled shooting the ball, with Eastern shooting 33.3 percent and Memphis 36.9 percent. Eastern had the advantage from behind the arc, connecting on 6-of-16 three-point shots while the Tigers were 0-9.
The Eagles got to the free throw line 24 times, with eight of Cooper's 17 points coming from the charity stripe. Two of those free throws helped seal the victory for the Eagles with eight seconds left.
Tatjana Sparavalo had 11 points and five rebounds, including a three-pointer to put the Eagles up by two with 1:24 left in the game. Brianne Ryan led the team in rebounds with seven, and added nine points.
Eastern held Memphis guard Brittany Carter to 18 points on the afternoon. Carter scored 49 points to lead the Tigers to a win over Sacramento State on Friday (Nov. 27) in their first Husky Classic game. The scoring outburst set a Husky Classic record for points scored by a single player.
The Eagles are now 4-2 on the season and will return home to meet up with local rival Gonzaga in Spokane on Tuesday Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. before playing three-straight home games at Reese Court against Cal State Northridge, Montana Tech and Cal Poly.
