SPOKANE, Wash. - Nearly 2,000 Avista customers from the South Hill west to Airway Heights had power knocked out late Sunday night.
An Avista spokesperson tells KHQ the outage occurred around 9:30 Sunday evening because a tree fell over some power lines. Crews had the power restored by about 2:00 Monday morning.
The power outage meant no heat for any of those customers for hours, which was dangerous considering the outside temperature was in the low teens. With the added wind chill, temperatures felt like they were below zero degrees.
