TOPPENISH, Wash. - According to the Washington State Patrol, a 21-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning after crashing her vehicle into a barrier on Highway 97, north of Yakima.
Jessica Whitefoot, of Wapato, collided head-on with the barrier just before 5 a.m..
Whitefoot was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was declared dead at the scene.
An investigation into whether drugs or alcohol played a role is currently underway.
Her family has been notified.
