BSU to roll out new graduate program in chemistry

Associated Press - December 10, 2009 2:54 PM ET

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The state Board of Education has approved Boise State University's plan to introduce a new graduate program next year.

The board voted Thursday in favor of the university's proposal to start a master's degree program in chemistry during the spring semester.

The program would begin small, enrolling five to six students a year.

University officials say the chemistry program would be similar to graduate degrees offered at other state universities but designed to serve southwestern Idaho.

Boise State submitted letters in support of the proposal from private companies in the Boise region that hire chemists.
