WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. - The body of a hunter missing since Saturday afternoon was found Monday morning around 9:30 by searchers about a mile and a half from his truck.

Forty-five-year-old Glenn Voshell was discovered in a ravine and officials say his dog, a black lab, is alive and was with Voshell's body.

According to Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers, Voshell went hunting Saturday afternoon near Rimrock Rd. in Colton on what was expected to be a short hunting trip. Voshell is said to have hunted in that area for more than 10 years.

"Everybody knew he was a hunter, nobody expected this to happen to him," said Trevor Voshell of his father Glenn.

The sheriff's department was notified after people in the area noticed a pick-up truck Saturday afternoon that had not been moved for hours, even after a slight snowstorm.

Inside the truck were Voshell's wallet and cell phone.

Deputies, search and rescue crews, along with family, friends, helicopters and dogs searched the area until 2 a.m. Sunday morning before suspending the search.

Rescuers were back to work by 7 a.m. Sunday but called off the search that evening for safety reasons before resuming Monday morning and finding his body.

"We believe that he probably lost his footing and fell approximately 400 feet over a rock bluff and probably died instantly," said Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers.

More than 200 people assisted in the search.
