Ketchum officials baffled over water complaints

Associated Press - December 25, 2009 8:14 AM ET

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) - The Ketchum Utilities Department says complaints from residents that the water tasted and smelled highly chlorinated are still a mystery.

Utilities Superintendent Steve Hansen says the department began receiving calls on Saturday, but testing found chlorine levels in the "medium to upper tier" of normal.

The agency stopped chlorine treatment on Sunday and flushed the city's drinking water system after the complaints, which had stopped by Tuesday.

Hansen says the department is a little baffled.
