TOUCHET, Wash. (AP) - The Touchet School District is having continuing problems with its payroll system.
The district failed to pay its employees on Dec. 18, the final working day of the month, due to what superintendent Dan McDonald called a "glitch in the system."
And this is not the first time employees haven't been paid on time. The Walla Walla Union-Bulletin reports that in November, high school coaches were not paid, and middle school coaches weren't paid the month before.
Touchet Education Association president Cathy Plucker says she heard stories of teachers having to return gifts or having overdraft problems in their bank accounts because of the delayed pay checks.
