(Haitians displaced by the massive earthquake that devastated
their country form a long line to wait for UN-distributed meals)
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Salvation Army, in an effort to raise local funds for the relief effort in Haiti, will be putting out Red Kettles at their Spokane and Spokane Valley thrift stores.
The thrift stores are located at 2020 N. Division and 11211 E. Sprague in the Spokane Valley.
In addition, a Red Kettle will be place outside ShopKo on Regal on Friday evening February 5 and all day on Saturday, February 6.
If you would like to make a donation to The Salvation Army Relief Team's efforts in Haiti, you can donate at one of the Red Kettles or stop by the Salvation Army offices as 222 E. Indiana Ave.
Early estimates are that, nationally, The Salvation Army will be required to supply more than 1 million meals per week for at least the next six weeks in order to sustain displaced families until regular and sustainable United Nations deliveries of food can be put into place.
