Neighbors lose second dog in pit bull attack

(One of the pit bulls is led away from the home after the attack)

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - A woman was injured Friday after trying to separate two pit bulls from another dog they attacked and eventually killed.

The attack happened around noon in the area of Bradley and 3rd in Spokane Valley where the dogs were in adjacent backyards separated by a fence.

The owners of the dog that was killed, Sabrina and Harold, say the pit bulls pulled their dog through the fence, eventually killing it.

The owner of the pit bulls saw the attack happening and rushed outside to stop it when she was injured by the animals. She was taken to an area hospital with what officials called non life-threatening injuries.

Sabrina said that this was not the first time that the pit bulls have killed one of their dogs.

In an earlier attack, the pit bulls completely destroyed the fence in an effort to get at one of the couple's dogs. Sabrina says she could have pushed harder to get something done about her neighbors' dogs then, but had faith their owner would do what was necessary to prevent another attack.

Sabrina says after the attacks, she will never own a pit bull.
