The thief was caught on camera carrying the $400 dog out the NW Seed and Pet
AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. - A woman wanted for stealing a puppy from NW Seed and Pet on Saturday was charged with theft after turning herself into officers Sunday.
Around 11:20 a.m. Saturday the woman walked into the store in the 2400 block of E. Sprague and walked out with a Pomeranian worth about $400.
Employees did not notice the dog was missing until after the woman had left the store, but surveillance cameras did capture the theft on video. Store employees said they were shocked to see the woman had a young girl in tow as she stole the puppy.
Sunday, after seeing the story and herself on TV, the woman decided to turn herself into police, though she had already sold the animal to another woman. The suspect arranged a meeting with an officer in the parking lot of the Airway Heights Wal-Mart where she was charged with misdemeanor theft and released.
The woman that bought the stolen dog returned the animal to police and police turned the dog over to NW Seed and Pet.
The 2-month-old pooch has been named 'Tippy' after the volume of tips that came in following the theft.
