State lottery names 'luckiest' stores in Spokane area

SPOKANE, Wash. - St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner. Not all of us were born with the luck of the Irish, but Washington's Lottery is giving out a few hints that will hopefully lead you to a pot of gold. Each March, Washington's Lottery names the "Luckiest Stores" from all the regions around the state.

The luckiest stores are retailers that have sold the most winning tickets of prizes worth $1,000 more for the 2009 calendar. The luckiest store in the Spokane region this year was Rosauer's Food at 10618 Sprague Ave. in Spokane Valley; they sold 12 tickets worth $1,000 or more. Rounding out the top 9 lucky stores in the Spokane region are:

• Fred Meyer at 400 S. Thor St. in Spokane sold 11 big winners
• Safeway at 2507 W. Wellesley Ave. in Spokane sold 9 big winners
• Safeway at 933 E. Mission Ave. in Spokane sold 8 big winners
• Safeway at 121 W. Walnut St. in Newport sold 8 big winners
• Yoke's Foods at 210 E. North Foothills Dr. in Spokane sold 8 big winners
