SPOKANE, Wash. - An Albion baby injured allegedly by the mother's boyfriend has been downgraded from serious to critical condition. The baby remains at Sacred Heart where doctors are working on saving the baby's life.

The 5-month-old infant was found with an apparent brain injury.

Nathan Cranfield made his first court appearance on Monday afternoon where his bail was set at 250,000.

Doctors tell authorities the injuries are consistent with shaking a baby and after talking with Cranfield police felt they had enough evidence to make an arrest. Cranfield is expected to back in court this Friday.
