EPHRATA, Wash. (AP) - 1 of 2 winning Mega Millions tickets was bought at a Safeway supermarket in the Eastern Washington town of Ephrata
Washington's Lottery spokesman Scott Kinney said Wednesday the winners will be sharing a $380 million jackpot. He says that's higher than the previous $355 million because of feverish sales before Tuesday night's drawing.
The other winning ticket was sold in Idaho. Lottery officials there have not said where that ticket was sold.
The drawing drew huge interest across the country as thousands of people lined up to buy tickets in 41 states and Washington, D.C., where the game is available.
The winning numbers were 4, 8, 15, 25 and 47, with 42 being the "Mega ball" number.
BOISE, Idaho - A share of the third largest lottery jackpot in the history of the United States was won Idaho on Tuesday night, January 4, 2011. The Idaho Lottery has confirmed that one ticket sold in Idaho matched all five numbers and the Mega Ball to claim a share of the $355,000,000 jackpot. The winning numbers are:
04 08 15 25 47 and the Mega Ball is 42
"Idaho is a very lucky place," said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. "We are encouraging everyone who has played Mega Millions to check their tickets carefully for winners. We are also recommending all our players sign the back of their ticket prior to presenting it for payment. These tickets are bearer instruments and we want to ensure our winners protect their play."
The Idaho Lottery has also confirmed one additional ticket Mega Millions ticket for Tuesday night's draw matched all five "white ball" numbers but not the Mega Ball and is worth $250,000.
In addition to the two big winners, there were a total of 12,653 winning tickets on Mega Millions for Tuesday night's draw in Idaho.
Winners have 180 days to claim their prizes. Idaho Lottery offices will be open during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time. Players can check their Mega Millions tickets by visiting idaholottery.com, calling the Idaho Lottery's winning number's hotline at 208-334-4656, or by visiting an Idaho Lottery retailer.
Additional information will be provided when it becomes available on Wednesday.
