CLAYTON, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol says excessive speed is to blame in an accident that claimed the life of 17-year-old Johnathen Carwile of Spokane.
Authorities say Carwile was northbound on Highway 395 when he left the roadway going around a curve and rolled his 1997 Saturn. Carwile was ejected. Troopers and EMTs arrived on scene and administered CPR while waiting for Medstar. Carwile was pronounced dead at the scene.
Carwile's passenger, 16-year-old Kaili Donica was also injured in the accident. She was taken to an area hospital where her condition remains unknown.
Troopers believe drugs or alcohol were also involved.
