UPDATE: Washington State Patrol Trooper Rear-Ended By Semi-Truck Near Ritzville

RITZVILLE, Wash. - A Washington State Trooper was taken to a Spokane hospital Sunday night by helicopter after being rear-ended by a semi-truck on Highway 395 just south of Ritzville.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol the trooper was pulled over to the side of the highway with his lights on after completing a traffic stop when for unknown reasons he was rear-ended by a semi-truck. The trooper was immediately taken to a Ritzville hospital before being air-lifted to a Spokane hospital.
 
The Washington State Patrol identified the trooper as Dean Burt. The extent of Trooper Burt's injuries are unknown at this point however they are reported to be non-life threatening.
 
One lane in each direction of Highway 395 remains closed at this hour while authorities investigate the crash.
