SPOKANE, Wash. - Three people were able to safely make it out of the swimming pool at Global Fitness after a roof collapse there.
The roof, above the pool, collapsed around 11:15 Tuesday morning. Three people, who were in the pool when the roof collapsed into it, were able to make it out without injury.
Police received reports that a fourth person may have been in the pool at the time of the collapse. In response to these reports Sheriff's marine deputies and members of the Spokane City/County Rescue Dive Team spent about two hours Tuesday checking the swimming pool for potential victims.
No one was found in the pool, but Deputy Patrick Bloomer said fallen debris only allowed divers to check the two ends of the 20-25 meter pool.
He added that patrons who exited the pool just prior to the 11:30 a.m. roof collapse reported no one else in the water.
The roof over the center portion of the pool fell onto the pool and prevented divers from searching end-to-end.
