George Maupin joined the KHQ news and weather team in 1993.

Born in Southern California, George Maupin is a veteran of the Vietnam War. George says that he got into television because he was “bored with my regular job…I decided to try something that would be harder and stretch me and perhaps take me places I would otherwise never go.” George’s first television job was in Palm Springs, California. That led to a job as the main sports anchor at the ABC affiliate in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Between Las Vegas and his current position as a morning weatherman on KHQ, George has been a reporter, a “week-in-review” talk show host, editor of a monthly Quarter-Horse magazine, a news director for an all-news radio station and spent a number of years as a television newscast producer.

George says he loves his job and the people he works with, but is most proud of his son who is going to college in Portland. George is also very proud of having behaved “just well enough to keep my beautiful wife”. George and his wife came to Spokane because they were told it was a great place to raise a kid, and George says, “it’s true.”

Sunday: The morning's Cd'A marathon will be cool & dry…Atmospheric conditions finally become unfavorable for those pesky showers, therefore…"just partly cloudy"... Low/High 43°/67°

"Memorial Day" Monday:  Nice. It's a favorable forecast with many areas receiving more sun than clouds at times…The "Stars & Stripes" will proudly wave from a light breeze... Low/High 46°/70°
