    Police in a North Carolina city are treating a pit bull puppy as a hero after he dug up a loaded .38-caliber revolver at an apartment complex.    Greenville police posted on its Facebook page the puppy that officers nicknamed Ryder was playing in the grass at the apartment complex when it found the gun wrapped in a t-shirt. Officers unloaded the gun and took it to police headquarters for storage.

    BARRON, Wis. (AP) - One-hundred volunteers have joined the search for a Wisconsin girl who went missing earlier this week and whose parents were shot and killed in their home.    Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald requested the help of volunteers on Thursday in the hopes of finding clues as to the whereabouts of 13-year-old Jayme Closs, who isn't a suspect in her parents' deaths.

    Police have charged another Pennsylvania preschool worker after the school's owner was accused of putting the sleep aid melatonin in children's lunches. WJAC-TV reports Janie Hersh was charged Wednesday for failing to act as a mandated reporter and disorderly conduct.
