State Patrol: woman calls 911 to say she's drunk

Posted:

AUBURN, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol says a 19-year-old Auburn woman called 911 to report that she pulled over to the side of a highway because she was "very drunk" and needed a lift from police.

Trooper Dan McDonald says the teen told the dispatcher that she had been given alcohol at a party without her knowledge and her friends told her she could call 911 to have police pick her up and take her to a hospital to detox.

The trooper who responded says he found a young woman with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech who appeared extremely intoxicated and said she had blurry vision. He says he saw a 20-oz. alcohol energy drink in the cup holder and adds the woman told him she had consumed four of the same drinks at the party before she tried to drive home about 5 a.m. Monday.

McDonald says the trooper did indeed take the teen to Auburn Regional Medical Center for detox treatment, but he also arrested her for physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated.
