Amanda Knox and her former boyfriend are being tried for the 2007 slaying of Meredith Kercher. They deny wrongdoing.
Kercher's body was found in the apartment she shared with Knox on November 2, 2007. Prosecutors believe she was killed in a drug-fueled sex game involving Knox, Sollecito and Rudy Hermann Guede, an Ivorian who was convicted last year in a separate trial.
In closing arguments, a defense lawyer challenged evidence in the case and accused prosecutors of changing their minds about the alleged motive for the attack.
In his own closing remarks, a prosecutor said Knox had lashed out at the murder victim on the night of the killing, for having complained about her promiscuous behavior.
A verdict by the eight-member jury is expected by the end of the week. Prosecutors are requesting life prison sentences.
