COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho. - Sarah Palin's book tour has taken her back to her north Idaho roots.
A Thursday afternoon signing at a Coeur d'Alene Fred Meyer store drew an estimated 900 people, many of whom camped overnight in the store's outdoor garden center, bundled in down parkas, heavy boots and sleeping bags against temperatures that dipped to 9 degrees.
Her Thursday night schedule called for a book-signing event in Sandpoint, where she was born in 1964.
In Coeur d'Alene, fans started lining up Wednesday morning.
Krista Woodruff was one of those who joined the crowd Wednesday night. The Spokane, Wash., woman left Palin's table Thursday afternoon with tears streaming down her face. She told The Spokesman-Review, "I'm so awed I can hardly put it in words."
KTUU-TV reports that on Sunday the former Alaska governor is scheduled to sign copies of "Going Rogue" at Elmendorf Air Force Base at Anchorage.
