HAYDEN LAKE, Idaho – The body of an Idaho murder suspect was located north of Hayden Lake on Wednesday with the help of a helicopter from Spokane and the work of detectives who traced the suspect using the latest technology.

Chad Moore, 35, is suspected of shooting and killing 28-year-old Ryan Taylor outside the City of Hayden on Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives traced the suspect's cell phone based on towers used to send a phone call he placed shortly after the shooting. Authorities from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office searched the woods north of Hayden Lake.

"It was about 3 miles from a cell phone tower which placed him in the area," said Major Dan Mattos with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.

Hours later, the received a report of a burning vehicle in the area along Hayden Creek Road.

"We cordoned the area off believing he Moore could be there and then we resumed the search in the morning using the helicopter from Spokane," said Mattos.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office helped with the search by supplying their helicopter to search the area.

The helicopter is equipped with infrared equipment which can view heat from objects such as burned vehicles.

Authorities in the helicopter located the smoldering vehicle and directed swat teams into the area.

Moore's body was discovered approximately 400 yards from the burned truck later identified as belonging to the suspect.

Moore died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Mattos who said a rifle and handgun were found near the man.

While detectives search Moore's vehicle and home for evidence, friends and family of the murder victim are grieving.

Ryan Taylor was remembered as a loving father of three girls, ages 12, 10 and 9.

Family members say he loved dirt biking and spending time with his daughters.

A fundraiser has been set for Saturday evening at The Grail in Coeur d'Alene to raise money for the victim's family.  The event starts at 8 p.m. and participants are asked to contribute $5.
