Wednesday Weather Update: Strong Thunderstorms For the Evening Commute & Into Tonight
Evening/Overnight: Some nasty thunderstorms roll in from the southwest and pass through Central & Eastern WA from early evening until the middle of the night. Some storms may be quite strong with powerful downburst winds to 60mph, periodic torrential rainfall & dangerous lightning. Be prepared for potential wind damage & localized flooding. (RED)
Flash Flood Watch: is in place over the Methow, Okanogan and Wenatchee Valleys and east slopes of the Cascades, basically the areas where fires have been burning, until 11:00pm tonight. Heavy rain has already caused debris/rock slides this afternoon on the Carlton Fire burn scars & some flash flooding was also possible.
Red Flag Warning: is in place over the lower Columbia Basin until 11:00pm tonight for the threat of lightning causing new fires that could grow rapidly.
