SPOKANE, Wash. - A pitbull that attacked its owner Tuesday afternoon will be put down after a 10-day rabies watch at Spokanimal.

The owner, who signed the order Wednesday to have the dog put down, is still recovering from injuries she suffered in the attack.

Police say two dogs, a pitbull and a german shepherd, were fighting in their home in the 3300 block of Northwest Boulevard, when the owner tried to break them up. The pitbull turned on her and she received "significant" bites from the dog.

The dog was taken into custody by Spokane Animal Control.
