SEATTLE - The NCAA women's basketball tournament comes to Seattle tomorrow, with Gonzaga being the featured team in first-round action at University of Washington's campus Bank of America Arena.
In the first game at 5 p.m., Pittsburgh (23-7) faces Montana (28-4). Thirty minutes after the first contest ends, Gonzaga (26-6) goes against Xavier (25-6) in the nightcap. The West Coast Conference regular-season and tournament champion Bulldogs are a No. 12 tournament seed while Xavier, from Cincinnati, is a No. 5 seed.
Gonzaga is led by sophomore guard Courtney Vandersloot, from Kent, who was the WCC women's player of the year. She averaged 16.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season. The Bulldogs are making their second NCAA tournament appearance. They lost to Middle Tennessee State 85-46 in their first round game in the 2007 NCAA tournament.
