Wash to get $56 million for energy projects

Posted: Updated:

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Obama Administration says Washington state will get about $56 million in stimulus money for projects that reduce energy use.

In Washington, 10 counties, 26 cities and 28 tribes will receive money to pay for energy audits, retrofitting buildings to use less energy and for other conservation programs.

The money was announced Thursday as part of $3.2 billion in energy grants nationwide.

The Washington state energy office gets the largest share, about $10 million.

Among cities receiving grants, Spokane gets nearly $2 million, Vancouver gets $1.6 million and Seattle gets $6 million.

The money is separate from $120 million that Washington will get for weatherization and other energy projects.

Detailed information on the funding can be found at energy.gov/recovery.
