Gone in 60 seconds, back in 60 minutes

SPOKANE, Wash. - It was a rough start to the day for Rachael Tillett, who watched her car get stolen in front of her home. "I looked out the window and the car was driving by," she said.

She immediately called police who responded within minutes.

Deputy Jerad Kiehn heard the call for help and headed to the scene. He actually spotted Rachael's yellow colored Honda Prelude on the way.

"It was unique and fairly easy to point out," he said.

Just as unique as the car was the clue on the ground that Deputy Kiehn used to help catch the suspect.

Kiehn and other deputies followed a set of footprints from the abandoned car.

"The shoe prints on there actually had kind of a star-shaped pattern and an octagon," he said.

Mother nature helped the cause by laying a fresh blanket of snow on the street where the suspect walked.

"This snow is kind of wet and packing, so it was pretty beautiful prints to follow," said the deputy.

Minutes later the suspect was found. Deputy Kiehn said there were stars and octagons on the bottom of his shoe.

The suspect was arrested, and Rachel's car was returned prompting her to thank police for their timely work this morning.

"They do a good job," said Rachael. "I don't think they get enough recognition. "
