WSU Veterinary Student Gudrun Gunther WSU Veterinary Student Gudrun Gunther

PULLMAN, Wash. - Friday afternoon you'll have an opportunity to meet a young woman whose artwork has been featured on the cover of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Fourth year WSU Veterinary student Gudrun Gunther from Libby, Montana will be on hand for a showcase of her works, which include a variety of animal portraits.

From her family's horses to her childhood pet dog WSU says Gunther "She loves portraying the inner soul of beloved pets in her favorite medium, oil paint." The "Meet the Artist" open house has been scheduled for Friday, April 10 from 4:30 to 6:00pm in the Animal Health Library in Wegner Hall. If possible you're asked to RSVP for the open house to Vicki Croft at croft@vetmed.wsu.edu. You can also check out an online slideshow of Gunthers work at the WSU News Service.

Prior to veterinary school, Gudrun was a Peace Corps volunteer and served in Tanzania.  In addition to her time in East Africa, Gudrun has traveled extensively around the world, including Pakistan, Cambodia, Thailand, and Malawi.

Following graduation in May, Gudrun says she hopes to work in a mixed practice in the Pacific Northwest focusing on dogs, cats, and horses.  She also plans to continue painting.
