SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Construction on the project to relieve congestion in the vicinity of the Pines Road and I-90 interchange resumed this week with signal work that may result in brief lane restrictions between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays throughout the project.

The project, which began in the summer of 2008, is reconfiguring the way westbound I-90 traffic enters and exits the freeway at Pines Road.  Existing freeway ramps at the north end of the overpass will be closed and traffic will be redirected via modified existing ramps at Montgomery Avenue and Indiana Avenue.

When the project is completed later this spring, Montgomery Avenue between Pines Road and the westbound I-90 on-ramp will be converted to one-way westbound, eliminating traffic conflicts at the entrance to the ramp.

Eastbound Montgomery through-traffic will be rerouted through a roundabout completed last year and onto Mansfield Avenue and through a new signalizeded intersection at Pines Road.
