SPOKANE COUNTY, WASH - Fire crews have knocked down a brush fire just north of Mead that started just after 1:30 Saturday afternoon. The fire was located in the 5100 block of E. Mt. Spokane Park Dr.
After first responders arrived on scene the fire was upgraded and 9 fire crews with Spokane County Fire responded as well as crews from DNR.
The fire burned some shingles on the side of a garage and threatened homes in the area.
Officials say the fire started when an individual was burning materials below one of the homes in the area. DNR will be investigating the exact cause of the fire.
The fire is 100% contained and crews will be out mopping up hot spots until Saturday evening and will return Sunday morning.
