Woman found dead at scene of house fire

OTIS ORCHARDS, Wash. - Fire crews found a woman dead at the scene of a working mobile home fire on E. River Rd. and N. Canal Rd. east of Liberty Lake Saturday Afternoon.

Fire crews responded to a report of someone trapped in the home Just after 3:00 Saturday.   Firefighters made a rapid entry into the home, but found the person had already fell victim to the intense heat and smoke.  Within Thirty minutes the fire was extinguished, but the home was heavily damage.

Officials say the woman was 67-years-old and bedridden.  Her name presently is being withheld until family members have been notified. 

A witness reported hearing a loud explosion, and then saw large flames coming from the mobile home. Neighbors reportedly tried to make entry through the front door when the fire was discovered, but were unable to enter due to the intense heat and large volume of smoke.

The Spokane County Sheriffs Office and Liberty Lake Police are assisting fire investigators with the investigating.  At this time the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

The woman's exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.

No one else was in the mobile home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported.

The victim's Son, his 11-year-old daughter and an adult caregiver also lived in the home.  The Red Cross provided them with food, clothing and shelter after the fire.
