PEND OREILLE COUNTY, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol says an 82-year-old Ione man died and three other people were injured in a single vehicle collision that occurred 17 miles north of Cusick.

The crash happened just after 5:00pm Monday evening when the Chevy Blazer driven by 82-year-old Nolan Clinton Lewis began to lose control drifing onto the right shoulder from the westbound lane of Hwy. 20. The vehicle hit gravel and thats when the WSP say they think Lewis over corrected the vehicle driving it back across the road to the right shoulder where it struck a tree.

The Washington State Patrol says that Lewis was wearing his safety belt during the crash however he was declared deceased at the scene. Right now the exacty cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The vehicle's three passengers were transported by ambulance to Newport Hospital.  Police say 56-year-old Robert G. Thomas of Metaline Falls, 67-year-old Michelle K. Brennan of Ione and a 10-year-old girl were all hurt in the crash.  Everyone in the vehicle was said to be using seat belts.
