Police investigating stabbing in downtown Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. - Police are investigation an alleged stabbing that happened at the STA plaza in downtown Spokane.  Police say one person was stabbed and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

The incident happened around 10:00 Tuesday night when an argument started between two victims and a suspect at the STA plaza on Riverside after one of the parties asked for a cigarette.  Police said after words were exchanged the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed a 22-year-old male victim once in the lower back. 

The suspect then reportedly swung the knife at a second victim, a 19-year-old male, and was able to cut the victim's shirt but not him. 

The victim's left the scene and were contacted by police by the fountain at Riverfront Park.  The uninjured 19-year-old victim had a warrant out for his arrest and was taken into police custody.  The 22-year-old victim was conscious and breathing and went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect in the stabbing was detained for questioning.

    A home was significantly damaged after a fire Saturday night. The Spokane Fire Department responded to the fire on the corner of N Cincinnati St. and E Carlisle Ave. Crews worked to make sure all occupants had been evacuated from the building before attempting to extinguish the fire at the front of the home.
