Carjacking suspect in custody

Carjacking suspect Michael L. Olson Carjacking suspect Michael L. Olson

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Carjacking suspect Michael L. Olson was arrested by Spokane Police officers about 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The 30-year-old suspect was located on foot near the intersection of Francis and Addison and arrested without incident.    Investigators had developed information that Olson was in that area of Spokane and found him walking north on Addison.

Olson now faces felony counts of First-Degree Robbery and First-Degree Assault.  He was booked directly into the Spokane County Jail Friday night.

The suspect's charges stem from his involvement in a carjacking that occurred early Friday morning.  Investigators believe he and a 24-year-old female accomplice, Marjorie Amanda (Amy) Harrigan, assaulted the owner of a 2002 Acura and stole the vehicle.

Harrigan died while trying to elude Spokane Police officers.  She lost control of the Acura in the 100 block of East Indiana and the car sheared off a wooden power pole, struck and large tree and was torn in half.

The woman was ejected and died at the scene.  Olson had fled officers in a separate vehicle and was not located until Friday night.
