SPOKANE, Wash. - Two shocking Spokane crimes have been linked together by blood. Douglas Harmon, 49, accused of attacking an 18-year-old with a machete last week and Larry Harmon, who killed one person and injured four in a 1971 shooting, are brothers.

The 1971 shooting happened at St. Aloysius Church in November of that year. Larry, 21-years-old at the time, walked into the church and killed the caretaker, Hilary Kunz. Four Gonzaga students were injured in the shooting before Larry was killed by police.

Decades later, Larry's brother Douglas attacked 18-year-old Eddie Ramsey with a machete. Ramsey suffered a broken wrist, cuts to his head and face and had to get more than 100 stitches as a result of the unprovoked attack.

The Harmon's older sister Nadine Sherman has confirmed with KHQ that the two are in fact brothers, however Sherman could not reveal more on the advice of attorneys.

Douglas was taken to a mental hospital following the machete attack.

The man wounded in a machete attack needed more than 100 stitches to sew up cuts to his head and face.

The 18-year-old, Eddie Ramsey, also suffered a broken wrist in Wednesday's attack.

In an interview Friday, Ramsey described the unprovoked attack.

He says he was walking a friend to where she was staying and when they got there they were on the sidewalk out front.

A man, now identified as 49-year-old Douglas Harmon, walked toward them with a machete in his hand. Ramsey says the man started asking some "off-the-wall questions," including why they weren't being so nice. >>More
