Driver rolls vehicle nearly 600 feet

SPOKANE, Wash.- One man is recovering in a Spokane hospital after rolling his vehicle off I-90 and into a field. According to Washington State Patrol Troopers, the accident scene spanned nearly 600 feet.

Troopers say the driver was going at speeds approaching 100 miles per hour when he lost control of his vehicle and began rolling. He rolled through a barbed wire fence and on into a field just west of the Liberty Lake exit off I-90 (exit 296).

During the crash, the driver was actually ejected from his vehicle, an event that troopers say may have saved his life. The car was totaled almost beyond recognition, but the driver only suffered minor injuries. He was treated and taken to a local hospital.

Troopers say he was under the influence of alcohol and will be charged with a DUI. No one else was injured in the crash.
