Body of missing man found in Lake Coeur d'Alene

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - At approximately 8 a.m. Saturday the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department recovered the body of Robert J. Meadows, 49 of Post Falls from Lake Coeur d'Alene.  Mr. Meadows went missing into the lake on July 6th, 2009 and was presumed drowned. 

The Sheriff's Department says search efforts over the past several weeks included the utilization of the Sheriff Department's Side Scan Sonar, a Side Scan Sonar from Gene & Sandy Ralston of Kuna, Idaho, as well as a cadaver dog provided by Deb Tirmenstein of Frenchtown, Montana. 

The body was located a few hundred yards due west of Arrow Point in approximately 137 feet of water.  According to Sheriff's Department officials there were no outward signs of foul play and the body will be sent to Holy Family Hospital for a forensic autopsy.

Due to the depths in which the body was located in, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department enlisted the aid of a submersible Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV), to bring the body closer to the surface so divers could make a safe recovery.

Tuesday around 5:30 p.m., a driver in a truck was traveling westbound on Upriver Drive when they crossed over the center line.
